The National Chairman of the (NDC), , has asserted that his government's decision to combine the Office of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Justice was wrong.
Speaking at an event in Accra on Thursday, June 26, 2025, Asiedu Nketiah indicated that having the same person as Attorney General and Minister of Justice hampers the country's fight against corruption.
He argued that the Attorney General, being a member of the cabinet, the financial decision-making body of the government, makes it difficult for him to prosecute members of the administration who engage in corrupt activities. "From hindsight, I think that we were wrong in combining the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice.
This is because you could have an Attorney General, and if he is the Minister of Justice, he sits in cabinet with his colleague ministers.
