The Electricity Company of Ghana has completed the construction of a new distribution line from Afari Substation to Nkawie to improve Power Supply in some communities under the Atwima Nwabiegya South Municipality in the Ashanti Region. The GH¢2,762,941.09 project among others includes erecting 92 new 11 meter poles, three new 12 meter poles, 11 kV headgear, stringing of new conductors, 11 kV GIS load isolator. The ECG General Manager for Ashanti West Region, George Amoah, disclosed here on Monday that the project which was a creation of a new 11 kV feeder from the Afari Primary Substation would improve power supply to customers around Nkawie , Toase, Mpasatia, Gyankobaa, Wioso, Kwame Dwaah, Bedabour and its environs. The Ashanti West Regional General Manager said prior to the completion of this project, customers residing in and around the Nkawie enclave depended on power supply from the Agogo Primary Substation which is far, and also the distribution line from Atwima Agogo to Nkawie had lengthy distance and was reaching its maximum capacity making it difficult to completely supply all customers within the enclave.According to him, the challenges led to occasional low voltage in some areas especially during peak periods, hence the need to construct a dedicated line from the Afari Primary Substation to relieve the load on the line from the Agogo Primary Substation. The General Manager revealed that the project would lead to the reduction of system losses, improve reliability and stable power supply within the enclave to enhance customer satisfaction, enhance Voltage Profile as the issues of low voltage. The regional manager further cautioned customers to desist from engaging private electricians anytime they experience an outage and urged the general public to report faults or individuals who interfere with ECG network via the ECG contact center on *0302611611*, report to the nearest ECG office, lodge a complaint on the ECG PowerApp or reach ECG on Social Media Platforms at ECGghOfficial on Facebook, X, or instagram. He advised customers to take advantage of the newly introduced ECG cashless system by downloading the ECG PowerApp from Google playstore or AppStore or use the shortcode: 226# to pay their bills before ECG Officials visit their premises.
