Investigations are reportedly underway by the Ghana Police Service (GPS) to determine the circumstances surrounding a violent attack on the official residence of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Afigya Kwabre South, Pearl Ankrah, by unknown assailants.
The incident on June 21, 2025, which saw parts of the residence engulfed in flames, causing extensive damage, is suspected to be an act of arson carried out by some unscrupulous persons.
A report by asaaseradio.com on June 23, 2025, has indicated that residents have linked the incident to Ankrah's rejection by some local supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), following her endorsement by President John Dramani Mahama.
The report further stated that two suspects have been apprehended and are in police custody, assisting with investigations into the incident, which the police have classified as arson.
