The Bono East Region is set to benefit from the construction of dedicated cattle ranches as part of strategic efforts to address ongoing conflicts between nomadic herders and local farmers.

The proposed ranching model forms part of a broader livestock policy reform aimed at ending the cycle of violent clashes, which in recent years have led to the loss of lives, destruction of farmlands, and the displacement of families.

These incidents have prompted urgent calls from residents for swift government intervention to prevent further escalation.

According to the Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu-Antwi, the cattle ranching project, which will feature proper water supply systems and pasturelands, is expected to promote lasting peace between farmers and herders once completed. "We believe the time has come to take bold and decisive actions to address the farmer-herder conflict in the region.
