The Appointments Committee of has described a petition filed against Supreme Court nominee Justice Kweku T Ackaah-Boafo as "frivolous, worthless, and an abuse of power." Addressing the committee during the vetting of Justice Ackah-Boafo, the Chairman, , stated that after reviewing the contents of the petition and the allegations leveled against the nominee, the committee dismissed the claims as baseless in both law and fact. "Honorable members, Article 127(3) of the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana says that a justice of the Superior Court or any other person exercising judicial power, shall not be liable to any action or suit for any act or omission by him in the exercise of the judicial power. "The complaint against the nominee is about the exercise of judicial power in conducting the matter leading to the judgment under reference.
The committee, this morning, ruled that the petition is frivolous, facetious, worthless, unmeritorious and it is baseless in law and the facts.
A complete abuse of the process," he said.
Following the committee's decision, the vetting process of Justice Ackah-Boafo, previously suspended due to the petition, is now back underway for consideration and approval.
