Leading New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart and former National Organiser, Sammi Awuku, has revealed that a majority of NPP Members of Parliament are prepared to support Dr.
Mahamudu Bawumia should he decide to contest the party's presidential primaries again.
In an interview shedding light on internal deliberations within the party, Awuku confirmed that the NPP is entering a new phase of leadership decisions and that discussions with the former Vice President are ongoing. "The party is now in the process of another leadership decisions and contest," he said. "We also needed to have some closed-door discussions with him to find out his thoughts and his plans as well for it." According to Awuku, many NPP MPs have expressed a firm willingness to throw their weight behind Dr.
Bawumia, who led the party into the 2024 general elections but was unsuccessful in securing the presidency. "A good number of these Members of Parliament also did indicate that if he is also willing to throw his hat into the ring again, we are definitely also there to support him," he stated.
