Once a pristine fresh water source for both aquatic life and human sustenance, the Glefe Lagoon in the Ablekuma West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region has become a major dump site for refuse.The entire channel of the lagoon have been overtaken by weeds with its main basin piled up with refuse like a mountain blocking its flow into the Gulf of Guinea.A visit by The Ghanaian Times to the area last Wednesday revealed that apart from the fact that the main channel of the lagoon has been overgrown with weeds, the surrounding atmosphere is heavily polluted with heavy repugnant smell and odour.To read the full story, subscribe to Ghanaian Times Newspaper here: https://swennewsgh.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=26
