The National Identification Authority (NIA) has cautioned the general public against allowing financial institutions, particularly banks, to photocopy their Ghana Cards.

He stressed that the act of photocopying the Ghana Card compromises both data security and the credibility of the national identification system.

As a result, he called on the public to resist handing over their cards for such purposes.

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday June 18, the Head of Corporate Affairs at the NIA, Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, expressed concern that many institutions continue to rely on visual checks, also known as ocular verification instead of subscribing to the Authority's official biometric verification platform. "We plead with the public, do not allow any institution to photocopy your Ghana Card.
