The National Identification Authority (NIA) has issued a stern warning to Ghanaians, cautioning them against allowing institutions-especially banks-to photocopy their Ghana Cards.
The Authority described the practice as both improper and illegal, emphasizing that institutions must rely on the official biometric verification platform provided by the NIA instead of making physical copies of the card.
Addressing a press briefing on Wednesday, June 18, the Head of Corporate Affairs at the NIA, Williams Emmanuel Ampomah Dallas, expressed concern over the continued misuse of Ghana Cards by some entities. "Unfortunately, most of these institutions, instead of subscribing to our verification platform and getting the right information, have resorted to taking the physical cards from applicants and making photocopies," he stated.
