President John Dramani Mahama has instructed all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to declare their assets by July 15, 2025.
The directive was issued during an orientation and training programme for MMDCEs held on Wednesday, June 18.
Addressing the participants, the President reminded them of their legal obligation to declare their assets as public officeholders. "In the meantime, I wish to remind you that you are among the office holders who are required to declare your assets, and so I expect that by July 15th, all of you will have declared your assets." In addition to the directive, President Mahama indicated that changes could soon be made to how MMDCEs are selected.
He revealed that one of the key recommendations emerging from the ongoing constitutional review process is the proposal to elect MMDCEs directly rather than appoint them. "MMDCEs, you may be the last batch of MMDCEs appointed.
