Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Haruna Mohammed, has revealed that its decision to hold presidential primaries early is to end internal bickering, reduce tension among aspirants, and give the elected flagbearer ample time to function effectively as an opposition leader.

This comes in the wake of the NPP's official setting of January 31, 2026, as the date for its presidential primaries, following recommendations from its constitutional review process.
