Supreme Court Justice nominee, Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo, has affirmed that Ghana's Constitution clearly limits a president to two terms in office.

Responding to a question on presidential term limits during her vetting by Parliament's Appointments Committee on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, Justice Bartels-Kodwo stated emphatically:"It is crystal clear-the president cannot hold office for more than two terms, period." Her comments reinforce the constitutional provision enshrined in Article 66 of Ghana's 1992 Constitution, which prohibits any president from serving more than two four-year terms.

Another nominee to the apex court, Justice Senyo Dzamefe, who appeared before the committee a day earlier, offered a similarly firm view. "What the Constitution says is what must be done; if the Constitution says two terms, I don't know what interpretation can be put to it," Justice Dzamefe said during his vetting on Monday, June 16.

He reiterated that there should be no ambiguity in upholding the Constitution's directives."Mr.
