The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has been disconnected from the national electricity grid by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) over an outstanding debt of GHC3,153,484.98.
The disconnection occurred on Tuesday, June 17, as part of ECG's aggressive debt recovery exercise targeting institutions and companies that owe the state power distributor significant amounts.
The exercise at GBC's premises is part of a broader national campaign by ECG to retrieve debts owed by customers, including public institutions and private businesses.
Earlier the same day, the team had disconnected Ghana Water Limited over a debt of nearly GHC1 billion.
