The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga North, Akwetey Agbo, has pledged his unwavering commitment to the development of his municipality and the nation at large.He assured residents that his leadership would be anchored on the same principles of transparency, fairness, and inclusiveness as demonstrated by President John Mahama.He promised to work closely with the community to ensure that the dividends of democracy reached every corner of Ga North.Mr Agbo made the pledge in Accra on Friday during a courtesy call on the leadership of the Fise Muslim Community in Accra, as part of the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.He said the feedback and trust reposed in the current government would be upheld at the local level to bring meaningful change to the people."We can only develop when there is peace.
Without peace, whatever we build can be destroyed.
That is why I urge all religious bodies to promote peace in their communities," he added.Mr Agbo also emphasised the importance of community engagement and education, stating "That peaceful environments are essential for raising children and improving livelihoods.The Chief Imam of the Fise Muslim Community, Sheikh Ahmed Harun Tijani, in his sermon, called on Ghanaians, particularly Muslims, to embrace piety, perseverance, and compassion in their daily lives and in their service to Allah.He reminded the congregation that the essence of the occasion went beyond the ritual sacrifice."It is not the splitting of the blood or the slicing of the meat that matters to Allah.
What Allah requires of us is piety-our fear of Him, our submission, and our devotion," he stressed.Reflecting on the story of Prophet Ibrahim, he encouraged the faithful to remain steadfast in their own trials.The Imam called for kindness and generosity during the festival, urging Muslims to extend compassion not only to fellow believers but also to neighbours of all backgrounds."This is a day to show love, empathy, and support to the weak and the poor.
