Supreme Court judge nominee, Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei, has appealed to Parliament to consistently preserve the judiciary's training budget, stressing the importance of equipping judges with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively discharge their duties.

Speaking during his vetting before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Monday, June 16, 2025, he emphasised that while the Judicial Training Institute can develop the judiciary, its efforts are often hampered by financial and logistical constraints. "The Judicial Training Institute has the capacity to train judges, but when it comes to the training, at times, you're confronted with issues of facilities and cash-that is what we need," he stated.

Justice Adjei noted that due to budgetary shortfalls, the judiciary is sometimes forced to rely on donor support, which may not always align with Ghana's legal needs. "Sometimes, the judiciary doesn't have enough capacity to undertake these things.

That's why donors step in to help.
