The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that students who survived the recent canoe accident involving cadet members of Lawra Senior High School are currently receiving psychological and emotional support on campus.
The tragic incident, which took place on the morning of Saturday, June 14, 2025, involved 10 second-year students participating in a regular cadet exercise.
According to a press release signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, the students were crossing the Black Volta River near Dikpe when their canoe capsized.
Sadly, seven students, five females and two males, lost their lives.
