Godfred, a man believed to be in his early thirties, drowned on Saturday evening after falling into a flooded drain in the Ironcity area of Kasoa during a heavy downpour.
According to eyewitnesses, Godfred was returning home from work when he attempted to cross an open gutter despite warnings from bystanders.
He was quickly swept away by strong currents.
