Awudu Gariba, a 14-year-old candidate for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), tragically passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, after collapsing at the Adiembra Examination Centre in the Assin South District of the Central Region.
According to reports, Awudu, a student of Nnuanua Number 1 Basic School, had begun showing signs of illness during the examination the previous day.
He was sent to the Assin Adiembra CHPS compound for treatment.
However, due to the ongoing strike by nurses, he was not attended to.
