Parliament has summoned the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, to appear before the House next week to respond to pressing questions related to the unresolved Ablekuma North parliamentary election.

This follows growing public and political pressure on the Commission to conclude the collation of results from the 2024 general elections, which have been in limbo due to a series of failed attempts to complete the process.

Just last week, the Minority Caucus formally petitioned the Ghana Police Service, requesting enhanced security to enable the EC to safely carry out the collation exercise.

Presenting the business statement for the week, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga announced that Parliament will convene a Committee of the Whole session to engage directly with the EC Chair. "The Electoral Commission will be asked two questions, so the EC Chair will appear before the committee of the whole to answer two questions," he said.
