The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) in the Ashanti Region has impounded 22 commercial vehicles for charging unapproved transport fares.
In addition to the impoundments, the assembly imposed fines ranging from GH₵500 to GH₵1,000 on the offending vehicles and has threatened to prosecute repeat offenders.
The enforcement action was carried out by the KMA's Taskforce in the Central Business District (CBD) on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
The exercise aimed to ensure compliance with the 15 per cent fare reduction agreed upon between transport unions and the Ministry of Transport.
