The Presidency has confirmed that the government will increase payments to sanitation workers (sweepers) and audit all post-contract payments made to Zoomlion Ghana Limited, following the expiration of its contract with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
The response, signed by Secretary to the President, Dr.
Callistus Mahama, was issued on June 11, 2025, in reply to a petition filed by investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni on April 27.
Contract Expired and Will Not Be Renewed According to the statement, the YEA-Zoomlion contract has officially expired and will not be renewed, ending years of sole-sourced sanitation service arrangements that have faced sustained public scrutiny. "The contract between Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and Zoomlion Ghana Limited has expired and will not be renewed," the Presidency stated.
