A prominent Ghanaian couple, Dr and Dr Mrs Lokko, have raised alarm over what they describe as a blatant and unlawful encroachment on their legally acquired land, despite multiple court injunctions in their favour.
The Lokkos, who have owned and developed the land for over 20 years, say they are being forced to watch helplessly as construction crews, allegedly backed by some senior police officers, erect multi-storey buildings on the property in defiance of court orders. "We followed the law.
We went to court.
We did everything right," a visibly distressed Dr Lokko told reporters. "Now, we watch helplessly as notorious land grabbers destroy everything we've built, right under the nose of the police." A private investigation commissioned by the couple has reportedly uncovered the identities of key individuals behind the illegal construction.
