The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has condemned what it describes as the persistent and egregious attacks on journalists, particularly pointing out the latest assault on JoyNews reporter, Latif Iddrisu.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra on June 10, 2025, GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour expressed worry over the conduct of individuals who continue to intimidate media personnel. "We will not sit down for this trend to continue; unfortunately, some elements of our society continue to unrepentantly, shamefully, and callously mete out unwarranted attacks on journalists in the line of their duty.
These are not just assaults on individuals; they are an attack on democracy," he said.
Dwumfour stated that the association has initiated several steps to address assaults on journalists. "Journalism is not a crime.
