The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has announced that new petroleum levy rates will be implemented throughout Ghana on Monday, June 9, 2025, as a result of the implementation of the Energy Sector Levies (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1141).

The directive, issued under Tariff Interpretation Order (TIO) No. 2025/003, introduces significant adjustments to the Energy Sector Shortfall and Debt Repayment Levy.

The revised rates are intended to generate additional revenue to support the country's energy sector, including settling legacy debts and ensuring power supply stability.

According to the GRA, the levy on key petroleum products has nearly doubled in most cases.
