Renowned Ghanaian statesman and business leader Sir Sam Jonah has delivered a powerful message, asserting that character is the single most vital attribute for "future-ready leadership for nation building".
His commencement address to the graduating class of Academic City University, delivered today, June 7, 2025, underscored the indispensable role of integrity, compassion, and discipline in shaping leaders capable of transforming Ghana and the African continent.
Addressing the graduates on the theme, Sir Sam, the Executive Chairman of Jonah Capital, an equity fund based in Johannesburg, South Africa, posed a fundamental question: "What does the future need most from our leaders?" His unequivocal answer resonated throughout the auditorium: "My answer, in one word, is Character." The Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) distinguished character from other commonly valued attributes, urging the new generation to prioritise ethical fortitude above all else.
