The Executive Director of Mass Action for Sustainable Development, Atik Mohammed, has called for the dissolution of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), describing it as a waste of national resources with little to show in the fight against corruption.
Speaking on Eko Sii Sen on Asempa FM and monitored by GhanaWeb on Wednesday, June 4, 2024, Atik Mohammed criticised the conduct of the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, stating that his approach to handling alleged corruption cases has not inspired public confidence. "His actions on alleged cases of corruption have not been encouraging.
Some of the cases he chooses to pursue appear to be driven by personal reasons, not necessarily by the goal of fighting corruption," he argued.
Mohammed further questioned the basis on which the Special Prosecutor claimed intimidation, particularly in reference to recent allegations that some officials of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) used intimidation, threats and coercion to acquire property. "He should ensure he gets his facts right before heading to court.
