Deputy Government spokesperson, Shamima Muslim has rallied Ghanaians to support the fuel levy to help In a Facebook post backing the decision to introduce the levy, she argued that the cedi is appreciating and fuel prices have reduced.
However, there is a need for more liquid fuels that are cheaper to power Ghana's generation plants for a sustainable power supply.
She, therefore, urged the people of Ghana to join forces with the government as they contribute GHC 1 per liter.
Her post shared via social media read "Cedi is appreciating inflation reducing, fuel Prices reducing but we need money to buy more liquid fuels which is cheaper now to power our generation plants for sustainable power supply…Only 1 cedi per litre & together we will reset …" Meanwhile, on the dawn of June 4, 202,5, Parliament passed the levy after the minority staged a walkout.
