The father of Edward Borketey Sackey, the 18-year-old form three O'Reilly Senior High School student who was tragically stabbed to death, has spoken out, demanding justice and accountability from the school authorities and the police.
The incident, which has left the community in shock, occurred during a violent altercation between Edward and another student.
Recounting the events in an interview with 3News, Edward's father explained that he had seen his son off to school and then proceeded to work.
He received a distressing call from his niece, informing him that Edward was involved in a misunderstanding with another student.
Concerned, he questioned why the teachers were not intervening, to which his niece responded that the teachers were sitting by unconcerned. "So I said okay I am coming.
So on my way, when I got to the motorway she called that the boy that was fighting with Edward had stabbed him and he was lying down at the school premises bleeding and the teachers were sitting down unconcerned.
I said wow," he recounted.
As he rushed to the scene, he received another call informing him that students had taken Edward to the LEKMA Hospital.
Upon arrival at the hospital, he was met with the devastating news that his son had passed away from three stab wounds to the chest. "The doctor said Edward has passed away.
So when they showed me the body, he had been stabbed three times in his chest," he said.
Edward's father expressed his frustration and grief over the lack of communication between the school authorities and the police.
He stated that neither the school nor the family of the alleged perpetrator had reached out to him. "The school authority has not said anything from yesterday up till now.
The police have not called, the school authority has not called, even the boy who killed my son, nor the family have even reached me.
That is why we are here to seek justice for my son," he lamented.
He called for a thorough investigation and demanded explanations from the school authorities about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He also criticised the presence of police officers blocking the school gates, preventing concerned individuals from entering. "We want justice and we want the school authority to explain to us.
Either the teachers are not at the school and it happened or they are there and it happened…They have brought policemen to block every gate stopping us from going in…So that is why we are here," he stated.
