Finance Minister Dr.
Cassiel Ato Forson has assured the newly constituted Board of Trustees of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) that government has fulfilled all outstanding financial obligations owed to the pension fund.
At an inauguration ceremony held in Accra, Dr.
Forson reaffirmed government's resolve to uphold the integrity of Ghana's pension system. "I want to assure you that the government is current on all payments due to SSNIT," he stated. "We are determined to continue honouring these obligations to safeguard the pensions of Ghanaian workers." SSNIT Director-General, Kwesi Afreh Biney, backed the Minister's comments, revealing that not only has government cleared inherited arrears, it has also stayed up to date on all current payments due the Trust.
