Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, has met with national leaders of the party in Accra, days after regaining his freedom from the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Chairman Wontumi was released on Monday, June 2, after meeting bail conditions set at GHS50 million.
His arrest, which took place on Tuesday, May 27, forms part of ongoing investigations into allegations of fraud, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state.
Despite the serious nature of the allegations, Wontumi's release has been met with a show of solidarity from top NPP officials, as he continues to enjoy the backing of several national executives.
