The Chairman of the Chieftaincy, Culture, and Religious Affairs Committee of , who also serves as the MP for Offinso North, Dr Fred Kyei Asamoah, has appealed to the state and the president to consider taking responsibility for the travel arrangements of various religious bodies, particularly Christians and Muslims, during their pilgrimage seasons.
He explained that 71.3% and 19.9% of the country's population are Christians and Muslims, respectively.
This, he noted, clearly indicates that the country is largely religious, and there is a need for the authorities to prioritize arrangements for travel outside the country to ensure absolute peace and safety for citizens embarking on these journeys.
Dr Kyei Asamoah expressed his satisfaction with the existing arrangements for Muslims traveling to Mecca to pray for themselves and the country at large but believes these arrangements could be improved to prevent unfortunate incidents, as reported in the media.
