Investigations have revealed that the Director of Finance at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in the Ashanti Region, Elvis Kusi, continues to occupy his position nearly a year after the expiration of his official appointment.
According to documents intercepted from hospital records, Kusi's appointment formally ended on June 30, 2024.
However, he is reportedly still drawing a salary and signing cheques and other official documents on behalf of the hospital, raising serious concerns about the legality of his continued stay in office. "This situation is deeply troubling," a source at the facility said. "Not only is Kusi receiving salary and benefits without a valid appointment, but he is also signing cheques and legal documents without due authorisation.
His continued stay is clearly irregular and undermines the integrity of the institution." Sources indicate that the previous Board of KATH had directed the then-Chief Executive Officer, Prof Otchere Addai-Mensah, to initiate the process of advertising the position, in accordance with the and Teaching Hospitals Act.
