The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon.

Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, has thrown her full weight behind the newly launched Okomfo Anokye Festival, describing it as a powerful celebration of Ghana's heritage with the potential to boost social cohesion, tourism, and the local economy.

Speaking at the festival's official launch in Awukugua, the legendary hometown of Okomfo Anokye, the Minister emphasized the critical role of culture in national development. "I want to assure you, in my role as Regional Minister, that the Regional Coordinating Council is committed to supporting projects that uphold our rich cultural legacy and core values," she stated. "Traditions are only one aspect of culture; culture also plays a significant role in social cohesion, tourism, and economic growth.

This kind of festival has the potential to attract tourists, bolster local economies, and promote a deeper understanding of our unique Ghanaian identity." The atmosphere in Awukugua, located in the Akuapem North Municipality, was nothing short of regal.
