Frank Davies, a member of the legal team for embattled former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has dismissed suggestions that his client is deliberately avoiding the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), insisting that his failure to appear is due to a well-documented medical condition.

He questioned the widespread scepticism surrounding Mr Ofori-Atta's health status, arguing that his condition was known long before the OSP initiated its investigations. "If I tell you that I will come and see you tomorrow, and just on the brink of tonight, I suffer a casualty, would you see me tomorrow?" Mr Davies asked rhetorically. "Why should it be so difficult for people to understand that the person involved has a health challenge?" he questioned on Joy FM on Monday, June 2.

Mr Ofori-Atta, who is facing alleged corruption-related charges, was given a June 2 deadline by the OSP to appear in person or risk being declared a fugitive and placed on INTERPOL's Red Notice list.

But Mr Davies insists that his client's inability to comply is not out of evasion but necessity. "This was known long before these charges were prepared against him; who didn't know that Ken was not well?" he added.
