The Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has called for a more rigorous vetting process for individuals seeking to contest for leadership roles within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), as part of efforts to strengthen the party's internal structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Speaking on the need to uphold integrity, competence, and professionalism in party leadership, Osei Nyarko stressed that aspirants from polling station executives to national officers must not be allowed to contest solely based on interest or popularity. "People must not just be allowed to contest for executive positions.

They should be able to clearly demonstrate what they are bringing onboard," he said.

In a metrotvonline.com report on May 31, 2025, Osei Nyarko stressed that candidates must show concrete plans and the capacity to execute the responsibilities attached to their desired roles.
