The Eastern North Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the transportation of 5,950 parcels of compressed and non-compressed leaves suspected to be Indian hemp across the Volta Lake at Asuboni, near Kwahu Adawso in the Eastern Region.

The suspects - Abraham Agonu, Michael Akuaku, and Confidence Amenuveve - were apprehended on Tuesday, May 28, 2025, while ferrying the suspected narcotics by boat.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the three are part of a broader smuggling network allegedly led by a man identified only as Felix, who is believed to have boarded a separate boat en route to the Akate area.

Police retrieved a pump-action shotgun, eighty-five maxi sacks containing 5,950 parcels of suspected Indian hemp, two outboard motors, and one large engine boat from the suspects.
