Former Vice President and 2024 of the (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin were unsuccessful in their attempt to visit Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, at the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) headquarters on Friday, May 30, 2025.

Although Bawumia was granted permission to enter the premises of the NIB, he was unable to see Chairman Wontumi. "We heard that Wontumi was arrested and has been held in custody by EOCO, so we wanted to see him and check on his well-being.

We made those arrangements.

Unfortunately, we are here, but the NIB and EOCO feel that the crowd is such that they are unable to bring him here at the moment, and they would have to make proper arrangements to bring him so that we can see him.
