Efforts by the 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr.

Mahamudu Bawumia, and Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin to secure access to embattled Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, have hit a snag.

Despite assurances that Wontumi would be transferred to the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for a meeting with the two party leaders, sources say both Bawumia and Afenyo-Markin were unable to see him upon arrival at the NIB on Friday, May 30.

The duo had earlier been assured by Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), that they will be granted access to Wontumi at the NIB facility, however their visit to the NIB proved unproductive.
