Supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have thronged the headquarters of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) in Accra following reports that the embattled Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, had been transferred there.
The gathering came amid ongoing tensions over Wontumi's continued detention, four days after he was picked up by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in connection with alleged involvement in fraud, money laundering, and other financial crimes.
Chairman Wontumi was granted bail to the sum of GH¢50 million with two sureties, both to be justified.
However, his legal team has only managed to secure one of the required sureties within the past 48 hours, leaving him in custody.
