The Minority in Parliament has expressed disappointment with President John Dramani Mahama for failing to include two Justices nominated by former President Nana Akufo-Addo in the list of seven Justices nominated to the Supreme Court.
The Justices in question include Justice Sophia Bernasko Essah, and Professor Richard Frimpong Oppong who were previously scheduled to appear before the Appointments Committee.
During a Leaders' Media Briefing, Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei called for fairness in the nomination of Justices to the apex court. "Unfortunately for them, President Akufo-Addo had the rare opportunity where most of the justices of the Supreme Court were retiring at that particular period, and that is why he was filling in the gaps. "I heard them say they are not against the individuals per se, so in their appointment, I was expecting them to include these judges.
Why are they not doing that?" she questioned.
