Minority Members of Parliament escalated their protest on Thursday, May 29, by sitting on the street outside the premises of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to demand the release of NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

Led by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the MPs marched solemnly to EOCO headquarters but were denied access to the embattled party official.

In a dramatic response, the lawmakers sat by the roadside, chanting protest tunes and patriotic songs to register their disapproval.

The lawmakers described Wontumi's detention and bail terms as politically motivated and excessive.
