The Minority Caucus in Parliament on Thursday, May 29, 2025, staged a walkout in protest of what they described as the unfair treatment of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The walkout comes amid ongoing legal efforts by Wontumi's legal team to meet the GH₵50 million bail conditions set by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
He is currently under investigation for alleged financial dealings involving the Ghana Export-Import (EXIM) Bank.
Despite being granted bail on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, with two justified sureties required, Wontumi remained in custody as his legal team had secured only one surety by evening.
