Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, is expected to spend a second night in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after failing to meet bail conditions.

Wontumi, under investigation over alleged financial dealings linked to the Ghana Export-Import (EXIM) Bank, was granted bail on Wednesday, May 28, in the sum of GH₵50 million with two sureties to be justified.

However, as of Wednesday evening, his legal team had not fully satisfied the terms for his release.

His lead counsel, Andy Appiah-Kubi, told Citi News they were hopeful the requirements would be met by Thursday, May 29.
