Vincent Ekow Assafuah, a member of the legal team representing suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo has indicated that the team will await the full written ruling of the Supreme Court before deciding on their next course of action in the ongoing legal proceedings.
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Wednesday, May 28, after the Supreme Court unanimously dismissed an injunction application by the Chief Justice to halt the presidential committee probing her possible removal, Assafuah acknowledged that the legal team must now proceed with caution. "I think that now we may have to go through the process, the hearing per what the Supreme Court has said, because we are now waiting for the ruling on the 12th June.
Based on the ruling, the reasons that have been advanced, we will decide as to the next steps," he stated.
Justice Torkornoo had filed the application on May 21, 2025, seeking to block the six-member committee-established by President John Mahama-from continuing its inquiry until the substantive issues surrounding her suspension were fully adjudicated.
