The Majority Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament have announced plans to visit Ghana's embassy in Washington, D.C., following its scheduled reopening on Thursday, May 29.

The visit aims to assess the quality of service delivery and ensure operations are free from corruption.

The embassy had been temporarily shut down by the government to allow for a comprehensive restructuring and systems overhaul amid allegations of widespread corruption and abuse of office.

Speaking to journalists, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Committee, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, urged Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to intensify efforts in addressing corruption in other Ghanaian diplomatic missions worldwide. "Members of this committee in the near future, in the very near future, will go to the embassy to ascertain matters for ourselves that the public is being served with the highest level of satisfaction and no iota of corruption.
