The Supreme Court of Ghana has unanimously dismissed an injunction application filed by the suspended Chief Justice, Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.
Torkornoo filed a motion at the Supreme Court seeking an interlocutory injunction against the presidential committee set up to investigate petitions for her removal from office.
In legal documents filed on May 21, 2025, the Chief Justice named the Attorney-General, Justices Gabriel Scott Pwamang and Samuel Kwame Adibu-Asiedu, former Auditor-General Daniel Yao Domelevo, Major Flora Bazwaanura Dalugo, and Professor James Sefah Dzisah as defendants/respondents.
She requested the Supreme Court to restrain the committee, composed of the second to sixth defendants, from continuing any proceedings or actions relating to the inquiry into the three petitions seeking her removal.
