Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has been admitted to a hospital for medical attention, his lawyer, Andy Appiah-Kubi, has confirmed.

This development follows Wontumi's detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after an earlier appearance at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters on Tuesday, May 27.

Speaking to the press, Appiah-Kubi declined to disclose the name of the facility where his client is receiving treatment. "I know where he is but I am not going to disclose the hospital.

But all that I can say is that my client has been taken to the hospital for medical treatment," he stated.
