Latif Iddrisu, a reporter with Joynews, has been assaulted at a mass gathering of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters at the head office of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in Accra.
The incident occurred amidst protests following the arrest of Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP.
The arrest of Chairman Wontumi took place shortly after he left the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
Supporters of the NPP gathered outside the EOCO office, demanding his release, leading to heightened tensions.
