The Communications Director of Ghana Water Limited (GWL), Stanley Martey, has cautioned residents in downstream communities to evacuate immediately to avoid disaster following a controlled spillage of excess water from the Weija Dam.

We have already opened two spill gates, each at six inches.
However, if by midnight we observe more inflows pushing the level beyond 47 feet, we will be forced to open all three spill gates immediately.
