Former Attorney General Godfred Dame has confirmed that he is the lead legal representative for the 's (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, who is currently under investigation by the police.

Dame was seen accompanying Chairman Wontumi when he arrived at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the in Accra on Monday, May 26, 2025.

When asked whether he was representing the NPP regional chairman, whose home was raided by national security operatives on Friday, May 23, Dame responded, "It is obvious." The former Attorney General declined to comment further on the case against his client, stating, "No comment, we haven't started yet." According to Channel One TV, Dame assumed the legal representation after Wontumi's initial lawyer, Andy Appiah-Kubi, stepped aside.

Prior to Dame's arrival at the CID headquarters, Appiah-Kubi was seen there preparing for Wontumi's arrival and told the media he was handling preliminary formalities.
